Growing up, I was an avid reader. I won the AR (Accelerated Reading) award for the most points every single year in elementary and middle school. I was big on fantasy and would breeze through thick tomes in days. I didn't care about the pizza parties or bookmarks that were meant to incentivize me to read more. I was just a very bored only child. I stopped reading so much in high school – probably because I finally made friends. 

I didn't pick the habit back up until recently. In college, I mostly read what was required by my degree, so I had grown accustomed to reading feeling like a chore. To dip my toes back into literature, I started reading the book version of my obsession at the time – Game of Thrones. I've since moved on to reading Mistborn, and you can catch me drifting to sleep while reading Brian Sanderson's words instead of while doom scrolling Instagram.
